Societa Agricola Ombretta - Alex della Vecchia

What started as a side-project of the Costadila team, might turn into a full-blown thing. Alex della Vecchia started vinifying grapes from Agricola Ombretta at the Costadlia winery. His vineyards are in the province of Treviso in the Veneto, just about 50km northwest from Venice. Primarily volcanic soil. Alex started vinifying grapes from his own volcanic-soil vines at Costadila in 2017. Alex has only a few hectares of vines to work with, but he coaxes magic out of every bit of it, growing lesser-known grapes indigenous to Treviso, including Pavana, Trevisana nera, and Bianchetta Trevigiana in addition to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, very old vine Pinot Noir and Verduzzo Trevigiano. Alex worked at Costadila with Ernesto Cattel, and he has continued with the same methods and processes in this new project… manual harvesting methods, spontaneous fermentation, no sulfites, no clarification.
